Native to the understory of rainforests in Panama, this cycad is without doubt one of the worlds most spectacular plants, period. Its underground caudex holds up to 3 stiff, upright leaves with enormous, deeply corrugated leaflets that are a dark bronze color when young.
It makes an outstanding ornamental for tropical climates but is severely endangered by ongoing destruction of its natural habitat.
