A herby subshrub with succulent, small, reddish leaves and tiny greenish flowers, native to coastal areas in southeastern and southwestern Australia. It makes an attractive and colorful ground cover that can take drought, salt spray and high winds. In colder climates it can be grown as an annual. The young shoots can be eaten as a vegetable.
