Gunnerales

The Gunnerales are a small order of flowering plants with two families- Gunneraceae and Myrothamnaceae, each containing only one genus. The species in the Gunneraceae family are attractive, mostly imposing herbs, distributed in humid, temperate environments in South and Central America, the South Pacific, the Antarctic islands and Africa. The members of the Myrothamnaceae family grow in arid regions of Africa and are considered “resurrection plants” because their leaves dry and turn black during droughts and recover their green color and fleshy consistency when they get water.
