Ericales

The Ericales are a large order of flowering plants, containing 25 families with 346 genera and over 11 000 species. The largest family is Ericaceae, or the heath family, which includes the ornamental Rhododendrons and many edible, delicious berry species of Vaccinium and Gaultheria. The Balsaminaceae family contains the delicate Impatiens genus (touch-me–not flowers). Some members of the Fouquieriaceae, or the ocotillo family, are very popular for their ornamental qualities.
