A medium-sized, solitary, stemless Aloe native to Eritrea and Ethiopia, where it is a common sight on dry, rocky slopes between 1600 and 2500 m. Its leaves are grayish with a thin, reddish edge, the large inflorescence is branched and sports yellow, orange or red flowers. In cultivation it does best in warm temperate climates in USDA Zones 9 and above.
