This solitary, medium-sized Aloe forms a short, slender, often decumbent trunk that holds a crown of up to 40 ascending, glaucous green leaves with a reddish tinge. The sparsely branched, tall inflorescence holds yellow flowers. Aloe charlotteae is endemic to a single mountain range in southern central Madagascar, where it grows on granite outcrops in dry forest.
