Yucca elata var. verdiensis
A medium-sized Yucca, native to rocky hillsides in central Arizona between 300 and 2000 m. It forms a dense rosette of countless, very narrow leaves that gives rise to a tall, erect and sparsely branched inflorescence. The slender stem rarely reaches 1.5 m tall. It has been suggested that Yucca elata var. verdiensis is a natural hybrid between Y. elata and Y. angustissima. In cultivation, it is best suited to temperate climates and hardy to USDA Zone 7. It requires very deep containers and should be planted in the ground early as it does not appreciate being restricted.
