Sweet Wild Garlic
A small perennial, up to 25 cm in height with broad, strap-like, green leaves and beautiful, strongly fragrant, star-shaped, lavender-pink flowers. It is native to the South African Drakensberg Mountains between 900 and 1100 m. Tulbaghia simmleri can be cultivated in pots or in the ground. It tolerates heat and drought but can just as easily be grown in mild climates, in USDA Zones 7 to 10. It prefers a spot in full sun and in well drained soil.
