Stipa nodosa (= Austrostipa n.)
Needle Grass, Knotty Spear Grass
A grass, usually less than 1 m tall, from shrublands and woodlands of mainly southeastern Australia, with hairless stalks that presents prominent, swollen nodes, rough leaves, usually covered by thin hairs and a slender, feathery, decorative flower-head with small purple flowers, which gradually turn yellowish-brown. It prefers well drained soils and a place in full sun or partial-shade. A good selection for warm-temperate climates in USDA Zones 9 and above.
