A tropical fruit plant in the nightshade family, this Solanum is very popular in Borneo and its fruit can be prepared in many different ways. When mixed with coconut milk and added to fish it is simply a delight! Aside from culinary uses, it is also a very attractive, colorful and fast growing ornamental, provided one respects the thorns on the branches and stem. When mature, the fruits vary in shape and color, ranging from pure yellow to a yellow background punctuated by tints of red and purple.
