| Rhus chirindensisRed Currant Tree A pretty, semi-deciduous small tree or shrub to 10 m tall, native to forest margins, scrubland and riverine situations in eastern Africa, with tripartite, glossy green leaves that are reddish when young and that turn red again before falling in autumn. The small yellowish flowers are followed by dark red fruits in large bunches that remind of red currants. It has attractive wood popular for furniture and turning and makes an excellent ornamental for warm temperate as well as tropical regions, tolerating drought and some freezes. |
