Raukaua simplex (= Pseudopanax simplex)
A evergreen, large shrub or small tree native to New Zealand, where it is found in forests in the North, South and Stewart Islands. Its leaves are simple and laurel-like or trifid in adult plants but in young plants, each leaf has up to 5 pinnate segments. In cultivation it will adapt to a range of temperate climates. Seeds may require cold stratification.
