Karo, Stiffleaf Cheesewood
A beautiful shrub or small tree to about 10 m tall, native to the Northern Island of New Zealand, where it grows in lowland forests, frequently in coastal regions. It sports grayish, leathery leaves and pretty, deep red flowers. It adapts easily to cultivation in a wide range of warm temperate and cool tropical climates in USDA Zones 10 and above.
