Japanese Stone Pine
A beautiful, small, often creeping pine to 6 m (20 ft.) tall. Old plants can reach a substantial spread. Native from Siberia and Mongolia to Sakhalin, North Korea, northern China and Japan to 2300 m (7500 ft.), where it grows just above the timberline. In cultivation is is suitable for USDA hardiness zones 4 to 6. The seeds should be soaked well and need cold stratification for four months.
