Pinanga fruticans Although closely related to P. scortechinii and botanically perhaps not distinct from it, this highly desirable, smallish, clustering palm has the most stunning, light green leaves mottled with dark green spots in the manner of P. disticha. The slender, canelike stems grow to 4 m (13 ft.) tall. It originates from rainforests in western Thailand and on the Malay Peninsula, and will feel most at home in the understory of the tropical garden. Due to its small size, it can also be kept as a potted plant. |
