Tree Bean, Nitta Tree
A magnificent, briefly dry deciduous tree, usually up to 30 m tall, although in some cases it can reach 50 m, with bipinnate leaves on spreading branches. It is native to East Asia, where it grows in lowland forests. Parkia timoriana is a wonderful ornamental and a very useful tree for tropical climates. The roasted seeds are a popular snack in some places while unripe seed pods and germinated seeds are eaten as a vegetable.
