Opuntia microdasys subsp. rufida
Blind Prickly Pear, Cinnamon Cactus
A shrubby cactus that can reach to about 1.5 m tall with much branched, flat, rounded, grayish or bluish green shoots that are spineless but armed with glochidia, and large, yellow flowers, followed by red fruits. It is native to Texas and northeastern Mexico at elevations between 600 and 1100 m. It can take severe drought and freezes and is suitable to USDA Zones 8 and above.
