A new, recently described banana from Sarawak on the island of Borneo where it grows between 600 and 1600 m (2000 to 5200 ft.) in open patches, often along rivers. The closely suckering underground rhizome produces slender, green to purple pseudostems to 4 m (13 ft.) tall. The pendulous inflorescence produces up to 10 hands of small, straight, yellowish green fruits. It is similar to Musa lolok, another new but smaller species from Borneo. In cultivation it is still virtually unknown.
