Musa borneensis var. borneensis
A medium sized species from the tropical lowlands of southern Sarawak on the island of Borneo, with densely clustering, slender pseudostems to 3.5 m (12 ft.) tall. These hold a crown of narrow, ascending leaves to 3.6 m (12 ft.) long. The stout, horizontally held and later pendulous inflorescence has red-purple bracts. A beautiful but still rare ornamental for the tropics or perhaps warm temperate areas.
