Masoala madagascariensis

A most unusual and truly stunning palm, native to rainforests at low altitudes in the northeast of Madagascar. It sports a shuttlecock-like crown consisting of up to 30 large, pinnate leaves with long, stiff leaflets. It is similar to M. kona, but considerably larger and with a more regularly pinnate leaf. A fabulous palm for the humid tropics.
