Pink Pine, Yellow Pine
A small conifer native to New Zealand that grows to about 10 m (33 ft.) tall and has a trunk to 60 cm (2 ft.) in diameter. The spreading branches form a rounded crown of finely divided branchlets clothed in scale-like leaves. Young plants have quite different, larger, needle-like leaves. It is widespread through most of New Zealand up to 1400 m (4600 ft.), as a shrub even above the tree line, though more common in the South where it prefers wetter areas.
