Dodonaea viscosa subsp. angustifolia
Hop Bush, Sand Olive
An attractive shrub or small tree, up to 5 m (16 ft.) tall, very amply distributed in tropical regions around the world, growing in woodlands, rocky areas, riverine and grasslands scrub. Dodonaea viscosa subsp. angustifolia presents simple, lanceolate, yellowish green leaves and greenish yellow flowers, which turn reddish as they mature, followed by winged, papery fruits. It is a widely popular, robust and drought tolerant ornamental for USDA Zones 8 and above. Seeds should be scarified or immersed in hot water before sowing to get the seed to take up moisture.
