Tasmanian Flax Lily
A small, lily-like plant native to Australia in southeastern New South Wales and Tasmania that produces clusters of bright green, flax-like leaves and tall panicles with small blue flowers, followed by attractive, edible, blue to purple fruits. Dianella tasmanica makes a great, low maintenance ground cover for the temperate garden. The genus Dianella is placed currently in the Xanthorrhoeaceae, but was formerly in the Liliaceae, Phormiaceae, or the Hemerocallidaceae.
