Weeping Tree Dahlia
A rare and gorgeous deciduous perennial up to about 3 m tall, native to Oaxaca, Mexico, where it grows in scrublands, at high elevations, around 2000 m. It develops very large tubers that support arching herbaceous stems, tripinnate leaves and produces stunning, very large but delicate, bell shaped, silky, nodding white flowers with pink-purple centers. It prefers mild climates with no extreme temperatures. In cultivation, Dahlia campanulata prefers moist, well-drained soils. For best results, cold stratification is recommended, for 4 weeks after sowing.
