Cycas platyphylla

This beautiful and rare cycad grows in but a tiny area in Queensland, Australia. New leaves are blue, changing slowly to yellow green, and trunk grows ultimately to about 2 m (6 ft.) tall. Does best in warm or hot, dry, bright conditions; perfect contender for the neglected conservatory. It also takes drought and some freezes.

Seeds from this species ...

... are easy to germinate and need up to 3 months to sprout.
Soaked in temperated water for 3 days and burried 1/3 in pure sand at 28-32 degrees C and keep almost dry they start germinated after 8 weeks.
