Cussonia paniculata subsp. sinuata
Mountain Cabbage Tree
A very attractive, evergreen, small, slow growing, succulent tree with a somewhat gnarled, sparsely branching trunk with a thickened base and corky bark. Each branch holds a dense crown of palmate, grayish green leaves with deeply lobed leaflets. Especially small plants have a distinctly palm-like appearance. Native to southern Africa, it is found on rocky outcrops in drier regions at altitudes to 2100 m. It makes a great ornamental for warm temperate regions.
