A large, stilt-rooted species from high altitude cloud forest above 1250
m (4100 ft.) on the Island of Guadalcanal, one of the Solomon Islands,
east of New Guinea. Like all Clinostigma it is a very attractive and highly
desirable palm. It quickly grows a columnar, grayish trunk, supported
by thick, short stilt roots and a tall crownshaft. Considering its high
altitude habitat, this should be one of the most cool-tolerant species
in the genus, suitable for humid tropical and subtropical climates. Seeds
of this palm are only very rarely available.
