Chambeyronia macrocarpa (Hookeri)

With a new red leaf just as spectacular as the regular C. macrocarpa, the most notable difference in this much sought-after form is its pale yellow colored crownshaft. It has thus been called the Yellow or Blonde Flame Thrower. The seeds are easily told apart by their unique pattern of pale fibers. Despite its origin from tropical New Caledonia it is surprisingly easy to grow, doing well in the tropics as well as in all warm temperate climates that do not experience more than an occasional freeze.

Seeds from this species ...

... are very easy to germinate and need up to 1 month to sprout.
Very Easy. 16 out of 20 seeds germinated in one month. First soaked in warm water for 3 days changing once daily. Used 50% peat 50% perlite mix and placed in ziploc bag for 100% humidity. Temperatures between 70F-80F. Placed bag in dark area. Note. You can leave the husk on or remove it. Either way these seeds will germinate at the same rate. Extremely easy seed to germinate just as the regular Chambeyronia macrocarpa.

Martius's magnificent work on the varieties of palm tree. This epic folio was based on Martius's expedition to Brazil and Peru with zoologist Johann Baptist von Spix. From 1817 to 1820 the pair travelled over 2,250 km (1,400 miles) throughout the Amazon Basin, the most species-rich palm region in the world, collecting and sketching specimens.
In his epic work, Martius outlined the modern classification of palm, produced the first maps of palm biogeography, described all the palms of Brazil, and collated the sum of all known genera of the palm family. For apart from his own collection of specimens and notes, Martius also wrote about the findings of others.
Martius's folio is unusual in its inclusion of cross-sectioned diagrams, conveying the architecture of these mighty trees. Equally remarkable are the color landscapes showing various palms—often standing alone—which have a simple and elegant beauty.
