Chinese Plum Yew
This conifer, widespread in humid forests between 600 and 3000 m (2000 and 9800 ft.) in central and southern China, grows as a shrub or small tree. The thick, soft, needlelike leaves are green above and whitish below. The attractive red or purplish fruits are edible. It is easy to cultivate and best suited to temperate climates in USDA Zones 6 to 9.
