Ceiba insignis (= Chorisia insignis)
White Silk Floss Tree
A small to medium, dry deciduous tree that rarely reaches more than 12 m tall, native to northeastern Argentina, Paraguay, southern Peru, Uruguay and southern Brazil. It grows a thick, bottle-shaped trunk that is well armed with hard conical spines. Usually towards the end of the wet season, large white or yellowish flowers are produced in great profusion and make the plant a wonderful ornamental for tropical and warm temperate climates.
