Caryota bacsonensis
Native to tropical forests on limestone in an area including northeastern Thailand, northern Laos, northern Vietnam and southwestern China, this Fishtail Palm is rarely seen in cultivation. It is apparently closely related to C. maxima, which it resembles in general habit, sporting a straight, slender trunk and a typical tall crown with relatively shorth, strongly arching leaves. C. bacsonensis is much smaller in all parts however, normally not much more than 10 m (33 ft.) tall, and has strongly drooping leaflets. |
