Canarium indicumNangai Nut, Galip Nut, Canarium Nut A large tree with a buttressed trunk that can reach more than 30 m tall and over 1 m in diameter and produces dark purple fruits that each contain a hard shelled edible and very tasty seed similar to almond but much better in flavor. The nuts are preferably eaten fresh, though just as commonly dried or lightly roasted and are highly appreciated for their fresh and crisp, irresistibly nutty, yet delicately buttery flavor. C. indicum requires tropical conditions for best results. Our nuts are collected only from the best, heavily and regularly fruiting, large and single seeded, thin shelled cultivars with superior taste in Vanuatu and are ideal for commercial orchards as well as for home gardens as it also makes a wonderful ornamental. It is also appreciated for its light construction wood. |
