Strap-Leafed Bulbine, Snake Flower
A very attractive perennial commonly forming colonies in grasslands in southern Africa. It forms a cluster of upright, twisted, narrow, pale bluish green leaves and ascending, unbranched flower stalks with star-shaped, bright yellow flowers. Seeds germinate rapidly and Bulbine narcissifolia is easy to grow in cultivation and best suited to warm temperate climates in USDA Zones 9 and above. It is also used in traditional medicine in South Africa and has a number of applications.
