| Astelia fragrans Bush Lily, Kakaha A rather common plant in New Zealand, this species sports dense clusters of bright green, strap-like leaves to about 1 m (3 ft.) tall. The delightfully scented flowers produce showy clusters of bright orange fruit in autumn on female plants. As easy to grow as most Astelia, it can take some coastal exposure, drought and light freezes. It prefers a sunny or lightly shaded spot in the temperate garden, where the soil should be very well drained. |
