Anisotome is a genus closely related to Aciphylla and native to New Zealand exclusively. A. lyallii is native to the southwestern coast of the South Island of New Zealand as well as the Stewart, and Solander Islands, where it is found in a variety of habitats along the immediate coastline. Its rosette of finely pinnate leaves gives rise to a pretty inflorescence with white flowers. In cultivation it will do best in cool or cold temperate, oceanic climates. It does not like high summer temperatures, especially hot and humid conditions, but is otherwise easy to grow in a moist, peaty soil. Seeds are easy to germinate but may benefit from cold stratification for a few weeks after sowing.
