Anisotome is a genus closely related to Aciphylla and native to New Zealand exclusively. A. haastii forms a large rosette of leathery, glossy green, broad, finely pinnate leaves. The large inflorescence has many small flowers in an umbrella-like structure. In cultivation it will do best in cool or cold temperate, oceanic climates. It does not like high summer temperatures, especially hot and humid conditions, but is otherwise easy to grow. Seeds are easy to germinate but may benefit from cold stratification for a few weeks after sowing.
