Amomum villosum var. xanthioides
A moderately large ginger with upright, leafy shoots to 3 m tall from a creeping rhizome and short, basal inflorescences with small, white flowers, followed by small, reddish brown, soft spiny fruits. Amomum villosum is widely distributed in lowland and montane, wet or seasonal forests from southern China to Burma. It is occasionally cultivated in tropical Asia for its medicinal uses and as a condiment.
