Queensland Silver Wattle
An attractive shrub or small tree up to 6 m tall and native to Australia, in the states of Queensland and New South Wales, where it usually grows on hillsides and rocky slopes, at altitudes below 700 m. It has flattened, oval, silvery gray phyllodes (modified leaves) and clusters of feathery, bright-yellow flowers. Acacia podalyriifolia is a fast-growing, drought tolerant plant and will do well in most warm-temperate climates. Hardy to USDA Zone 9. For good germination, it is recommended to scarify the seeds or soak them in boiling water before sowing.
