Little Andean Peach
A beautiful, fast growing but relatively short lived medium-sized flowering tree, found in cloud forest areas usually as a pioneer species in secondary or disturbed vegetation between 2000 and 3200 m in Andes from Colombia to Peru and in Costa Rica. It has dark green, broad foliage and upright, candle-like inflorescences with fragrant, yellow flowers. In cultivation it is best suited to warm temperate climates without extremes of temperatures but is little-known. It is particularly useful for reforestation, especially on poor soils.
